How does a tire crane work?
When it comes to the operation of a crane, we need to know the following:
- When lifting a heavy load, the machine’s outriggers will be firmly placed on the ground.
- The crane hook is attached to the load that needs to be lifted, which operates on the same principle as a crawler crane.
- The power unit is located on the rotating part of the wheel. Its task is to drive other movements such as: lifting/lowering; lifting/lowering the boom; and rotating the boom to bring the load to the desired position.
- When the load has been lifted to a certain height, the boom length needs to be adjusted to create intermediate sections.
Most construction projects involving building construction and assembly of large equipment require the use of a wheeled crane. The wheeled crane can be used in many places such as construction sites, warehouses, or ports. It can work safely and efficiently.
Precautions when operating a wheeled crane
First, the crane operator allows the mobile boom to lift/move into position and place the material. Before operating the crane, the operator must perform a pre-operation inspection. The operator will also calculate the lifting capacity of the mobile boom and determine the weight of the cargo. Then, stabilize the mobile boom before lifting.
The crane operator is responsible for dismantling; assembling; and moving the mobile boom. At the same time, the crane equipment needs to be maintained and regularly serviced. A simple thing like cleaning and lubricating is necessary.
