Load testing of a 500-ton wheeled crane is conducted to assess its load capacity and safe operation before it is put into use.
Load Testing Procedure for a 500-Ton Wheeled Crane
Step 1: Preparation
- The crane has been fully inspected and maintained.
- The test load must be appropriate for the crane’s lifting capacity.
- The test area should be spacious, level, and safe.
- Testing equipment such as load cells, pressure gauges, etc.
- Highly skilled and experienced technicians.
Step 2: Conducting the Load Test
- Attach the test load to the crane hook.
- Lift the test load to the specified height.
- Check the technical parameters of the crane, such as hydraulic pressure, lifting force, stability, etc.
- Observe and record any abnormal phenomena.
- Lower the test load to the ground.
Step 3: Evaluating the Load Test Results
- Compare the measured technical parameters with the crane’s design specifications.
- Analyze any recorded abnormal phenomena.
- Conclude the load capacity and safe operation of the crane.
Inspection Regulations for Cranes
According to regulations, cranes undergo inspection in the following order:
- Check the vehicle’s history and documentation.
- Inspect all external equipment.
- Conduct technical inspection – no-load testing.
- Perform load testing procedures.
- Process the inspection results.
Conditions for Inspection:
- The equipment must always be in a state ready for inspection.
- Complete documentation and records of the equipment must be prepared.
- Weather and environmental factors must not affect the inspection results.
- Safety and hygiene conditions must be ensured for equipment operation.
- Compliance with inspection deadlines.
Inspection Notes for Used Cranes
- Clean the license plates both front and rear.
- Clean the engine number and check the chassis number for any fading.
- Check the engine coolant level in the cabin, as well as the brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, and look for any abnormalities.
- Check the tire pressure and ensure the tire size is adequately inflated and not worn.
- Check if the vehicle lights are functioning properly; replace any burnt-out bulbs.
- Inspect the windshield wiper and water spray systems to ensure they are working correctly.
- Check the dashboard gauges to see if any warning lights are malfunctioning. Also, thoroughly inspect the interior for items like door locks, door handles, and driver safety belts.
- Inspect the vehicle’s braking system.
The 500-ton crane equipment from UMAC Vietnam has undergone a comprehensive inspection before conducting the load testing procedures mentioned above.
With the expertise and experience of the U-MAC technical team, a thorough examination of the equipment was conducted, including checking the tightness of bolts and screws, the wiring system on the crane, the oil level in the gearbox, the condition of the cables, and cleaning and maintaining all the engines on the machine. This ensures that the load testing process proceeds successfully.
